YUP. A Lot Happened Along the Way.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE BRAVEHEARTS GONE?

They have gone to work everyone.....................

I am a romantic by nature...but I will never rally my people against tyranny and save my country. I have a hard enough time getting through a safety meeting at work. I guess thats my point. Men today have to fight a different battle for survival. Perhaps not as glorious but nevertheless it takes courage. I give you a thought on choices here..don't let it keep you up.

Let me tell you about modern day heroes..about the courage it takes to keep getting up every morning to a job that "pays the bills..almost." Yeah, for us out there on the edge its always almost. We almost got out of the hole this month....if the kids hadn't needed dental work....and if the dog hadn't got hit by that baseball..... WOW.... 75.00 dollars at the vet! It kills me when I hear people talking about their I.R A.'s. Now what does that stand for.."I'm Really Alright???". For me it's "In the Red Always." But that's how modern day heroes are made. We survive without security...know how we do it???

It's all perspective. If you do not have a retirement fund you have your health. Money never bribed the Reaper. If you don't have your health you can be wise...people always give you that one if you are not well. If your not wise your tough. Nothing pushes the angles on tough...because pain does not matter. If you are like me and pain makes you apprehensive....well then you can be sensitive. Cry a bit at movies and yearn to be one of "The Walton's". Hell...I am the "John Boy" of the new Millenium. I am the "William Wallace" of management. I need to get my prostate checked but I am too scared it will hurt.

All this was working fine for me till this man I knew told me something. I met him at a campground in the Redwoods. He told me he was a retired railroad engineer. He said he had loved his job. He told me anybody that works 10 to 12 hours a day, in a job they can't stand, is a damn fool.

I am haunted by what he said. In this imperfect world of ours...a lot of us are kidding ourselves...............if you know what I mean.

WORRY

My mom was an inspired worrier. She got up in the morning and got right to it...no procrastinating on her part. It's a good day to worry...I could see it on her face. She passed it on to me. Not all people are worrier's. They seem to think the most important thing they do is not worry. I get tired of all these people thinking they are gifted because they do not worry.

Probably even more irritating is their feeling that they should turn us worriers into non-worrier's. "Don't worry about it." Thats one of their main comments. I guess they think they are trying to help...but they do not realize we are content being ever vigilant.

My wife looks on worry as an intrusion into the serenity of life. She never worries. Sometimes she cries because life can be so unfair but that is pretty rare. I cannot help thinking that if she did a little more worrying things might go better for her. She does not like to hear that.. and certainly does not believe it.

My friends at work have raised non-worrying to an art form. We see things on a different plane. They tell me not to worry. I tell them someone has too. Everything goes along an even keel for them until something comes up... like we get busy at vacation time and they have to entertain the thought of post-poning their plans. Whoa! They go straight to mad and skip worry all together. I think they missed a vital step in the process of life. I also cannot help but think if they had been a bit concerned about this possibility that they might have avoided the problem by making a back-up plan. Don't get me wrong...I owe them everything...intelligent and hardworking...they just need to worry a bit more.

I do not have a negative view of life at all. I enjoy life and feel blessed having my health, a good job, and a wonderful family. This did not all happen by accident. I worry about each and everyone of them on a daily basis.

I , in this imperfect world, have decided to look at worry as constructive anticipation.

SO I COME BY THIS NATURALLY...A FRIEND OF MINE...CHARLY TANNER ONCE SAID OF MY BEHAVIOR..."OH, THATS JUST DALE BEING DALE." I LEAVE IT AT THAT.
